Publication describes the areal extent, rock types, and the locations of quarries and prospects of the Everona Formation. The formation extends approximately 120 miles from the Potomac River in Loudoun County to the the Rockfish River in Albemarle County and is limited in outcrop width (less than .1 miles wide) . The six major rock types of the Everona are: 1) banded limestone, 2) massive limestone, 3) slaty limestone, 4) ferruginous limestone, 5) marble, and 6) black slate. Approximately 30 quarries and prospects in Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Loudoun, Louisa, and Orange counties and described and depicted on the accompanying map.
